Summary:
HUESKER, a leading manufacturer of geosynthetics and technical textiles, commissioned us to develop an innovative 3D simulator game. The goal was to present its products in an engaging, interactive way while giving users an initial introduction to smart sensor technology for agricultural facilities. A points-based system encourages players to continuously improve their performance and share their results.
Challenge
The Challenge:
The primary challenge was to seamlessly integrate the 3D simulator with HUESKER’s existing requirements and applications. This included presenting its technical textiles and geosynthetics while incorporating smart barn sensor technology into an engaging, game-based environment.
Goals and Requirements:
The primary goal was to provide users with a clear and easy-to-navigate real-time environment. The application was designed to give users a basic understanding of conditions within the barn while remaining intuitive to use. A points-based system was also intended to create a motivating user experience, encouraging players to improve their performance and share their scores.
Solution
Our Approach:
To address these requirements, we followed a structured, technology-driven approach:
Storyboard and Wireframes:
We first developed a storyboard and wireframes to clearly map out the entire game flow and its underlying functionality. The wireframes helped define the optimal placement and organization of individual elements.
Design Prototypes:
Based on the wireframes, we created design prototypes that gave the client an early impression of the finished application and provided a foundation for the development process.
Technology Stack:
The project was implemented using the Angular framework, while A-Frame was used to render and display the 3D objects.
3D Animation and Optimization:
Using the open-source software Blender, which is widely used in game development and animated productions, the supplied high-detail 3D objects were animated and optimized for use in a real-time environment. They were then exported in the web-compatible glTF format.
Composition and Lighting:
The individual 3D objects and basic lighting were composed within the A-Frame scene graph. The resulting 3D environment responds to different user inputs and supports animations as well as dynamic camera movements.
Key Features:
Interactive Product Presentation:
HUESKER products were presented in a game-based environment designed to capture and maintain user interest.
Integration of Smart Barn Sensor Technology:
The real-time environment incorporates smart sensor technology to provide users with realistic insights into barn conditions.
Points System:
A points-based system encourages users to improve their results and share their scores.
Intuitive User Interface:
A simple and clearly structured interface makes it easy for users to interact with the application.
